Pair of 18th Century Italian Ecclesiastical Embroideries on Mercury Mirrors

About the Item

Pair of 18th century Italian ecclesiastical, hand-embroidered decorations mounted on antique mercury mirror. The intricate ecclesiastical decorations are hand-embroidered with four colors of linen interwoven with a silver metal braid and hand-sewn with coordinating pressed metal discs over silver and pink metal foil. These elaborate works of art were created by nuns and were detailed decorations for a historic Italian church. The pair are put together by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture reflects when she transformed the piece and the period shows that the Italian embroidery is originally 18th century. The pair have been preserved and placed onto antique mercury mirror to create symmetrical works of art to grace any wall, creating a beautiful artistic work of historical and ecclesiastical significance.
