A contemporary Abstract Expressionist oil painting on panel titled "Just Around the Bend" by Paul VerBurg. Hand signed lower right. The composition is divided into contrasting zones—earthy greens and ochres on one side, icy whites and blues on the other—creating a sense of spatial and emotional duality. Thick, impasto brushstrokes form arcs and dots across the surface, highlighted by two soft pink forms that hover like markers in a shifting terrain. Paul VerBurg is a multidisciplinary artist trained in drawing and painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Now based in Okemos, Michigan, VerBurg explores sculpture, assemblage, and abstract painting rooted in natural and physical forms. His work—ranging from plein air landscapes to genre-blending abstractions—has been exhibited nationally at institutions including the Eiteljorg Museum and the Autry Museum, and featured in Southwest Art and Art of the West. Active since the 1980s, his practice reflects a continual evolution of media and subject.
