Ray McLendon is a second generation of Florida African American painters called "Florida Highwaymen". His father (Roy) was an original Florida Highwaymen artist. The original highwaymen were a group of 26 African American artists who created stylized, impressionistic scenes of Florida's magnificent beaches, forests, swamps and landscapes. This painting depicts a majestic red Poinciana tree among greenery under a pink and blue sky. It is signed by the artist in right lower corner. It is also signed by artist on reverse side. Framed in green and gold.
