About the Item
Allen Glicksman (1909 - 1963), was a noted artist living in New York City. He was a resident member and exhibitor at the renowned Salmagundi Club from 1951 until his death. This work, dated 1958, features a New York street where old and new buildings sit along a major construction site undoubtedly for a new sky scraper. The vibrant colors and sense of motion in this rendering evoke the optimism of the 1950s, and the energy of the city. The frame is original. The painting has been cleaned and revarnished by professional conservators. Very fine condition. Framed size is 37.5" X 32.5"; the canvas measures 30" X 25".
