About the artist: Anna Gardell-Ericson began her journey as an artist at an early age. At sixteen she was sent to Switzerland to study piano but choose art instead. She studied at the Stockholm Art Academy 1872–1888, among her fellow students was Hilma af Klint. She exhibited at the academy 1875 and 1877. She was awarded the bronze medal at the Centennial International Exhibition 1876, Philadelphia Pennsylvania. She continued her studies in Paris, taught by Alexandre-Louis Leloir and Ferdinand Heilbuth, 1879. There she studied and copied the french masters like Camille Corot and Charles-François Daubignys, painted in watercolor. She exhibited at the Paris salon in 1880 as well as 1882, her watercolor landscapes were a great succees which impressed her swedish colleagues Carl larsson and Anders Zorn. The art gallery Goupil signed a contract with her, 1000 francs per month for her watercolors. She was awarded at the Foreign Exhibition in Boston 1883 and became a member of the british Dudley Gallery Art Society. Anna Gardell-Ericson lived in France from 1879 to 1884 and married Johan Ericson in Paris in 1882, - they were both already recognized artists. They moved to Gothenburg when a cholera epidemic broke out in Paris in 1884. In Sweden, she exhibited separately at Gummeson's Art Gallery in Stockholm in 1927 and she participated in numerous exhibitions with the Swedish General Art Association and the Swedish Women Artists Association. Shortly before her death, she wrote down her memories, but this was not published in book form. A memorial exhibition was organized in Gothenburg in 1939 and Bukowski's Auctions showed an exhibition of Gardell-Ericson's watercolors in 1946. To mark the 100th anniversary of the couples marriage, Gotlands Fornsal and Gotlands Konstmuseum organized a memorial exhibition in Visby in 1982, which was then moved to Gothenburg and Börjesson's Art Gallery. A memorial book about the artist couple's life and work was also published in 1982. It is based on complete access to all letters and memoirs, many of which have not been published before. The book contains paintings from, among other things, many art museums, H.M. The King's collections and from the Swedish Parliament of which have been reproduced in high-quality large colour prints). Gardell-Ericson is represented at the Nationalmuseum, the Gothenburg Museum of Art, the Norrköping Museum of Art and several museums around the world.

Amazing Vintage Watercolor by Belgian Painter Leon Klassens, 1970s
Located in Bastogne, BE
Work of art by Belgian artist Leon Klassens. Belgium, 1970s.  A watercolor painting is a drawing that is made with special water-soluble paints. Most often, with the help of watercolors, landscapes are created - realistic, airy, natural imitation of weather phenomena (rain, wind, thunderstorms or the state of nature after a storm). Still lifes, everyday plots are well obtained. Less often - portraits. Buy a watercolor painting as a gift for a man, a woman for a celebration, for an anniversary, a birthday and a wedding is a great solution! An amazing watercolor painting (1970) by the Belgian artist Leon Klassens (1924–2007). The painter and watercolorist studied at the Académie de Liège...
