Charming Sylvia "Goldie" Lipson (New York, USA 1905-1992) oil painting titled "Tiger and His Friends" featuring a grouping of colorful, life-like children's toys (ca. 1952, USA).
Lipson, a WPA painter who spent much of her life as an artist in New York City, was most notable for still life, interior scene and landscape painting, along with teaching and writing.
"Tiger and His Friends" is a unique departure from Liston's style, with almost a surrealist / dream-like quality to the subject matter of inanimate objects coming to life. Whimsical style incorporating attractive, bold colors.
Frame shows losses in places; canvas is in fine, vintage condition.
Signed: Lipson Titled on lower front and in verso.
