To George Huené, 'Testa Greca' Ink and Paint on Lined Paper

An ink and paint on lined paper entitled Testa Greca or Greek head, in original gold frame with added brilliant blue accent. The piece carries the inscription 'To George Huene'. The backing board is tagged "To George Hoyningan Huene. E.B. 1958, Roma. George Hoyningen-Huené came from an aristocratic Russian family forced from the country during the Revolution. An illustrator-turned-photographer, Huené began working for Vogue in the Paris office in the early 1920s. In 1935 Hoyningen-Huene moved to New York City where he did most of his work for Harper's Bazaar. He published two art books on Greece and Egypt before relocating to Hollywood, where he earned a living by shooting glamorous portraits for the film industry. Measures: Actual image 12.25" x 9".
