Tony Agostini (b. 1916-1990, Bastia, France) Self taught French painter and lithographer, Tony Agostini began painting in 1946. Throughout his career Agostini focused on varying subjects including Parisian scenes, landscapes, interiors and still life. Agostini's influences include Gen Paul, whom he made acquaintance with... along with Paul Cezanne, Francis Carco and Marcel Aymé. These artist's impact can be seen in the color, composition and Cubist approach seen in Agostini's own work.
Throughout the 1950s and Mid 20th Century Agostini participated in several shows in France and worldwide including "Salon: Painters Witnesses of Time (1955), the annual "School of Paris at Galerie Charpentier." He also participated in "Discover 1955, the Greenshields Prize (1957, 1961)," and "Shapes and Colours (1957)." He displayed his work at the Salon des Tuileries and international group exhibitions... including shows in New York and San Francisco in the 1960s.
