Gouache of Paris, 'L’ile St Louis' by Serge Mendjisky, signed and dated lower right and inscribed with title on reverse. The piece including frame measures 21" x 25.75".
(French, 1929–2017) Serge Mendjisky was a French painter known for his brightly colored depictions of Paris. Influenced by Vincent van Gogh and Georges Seurat, Mendjisky employed broken brushstrokes and complementary colors to create the vibratory effect of shimmering light.

Serge Mendjisky
Serge Mendjisky was born in 1929 in Paris. Like his father Maurice Mendjisky, he was a painter of the "School of Paris". Serge was introduced to the art world very early on. After his studies at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he became an established artist, exhibiting his paintings in Europe, Japan and the United States. Even though he was a painter, he constantly used photography as preliminary studies for his paintings.
