About

The tombstone and final resting place of iconic French fashion designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel (1883-1971), at the Bois-de Vaux Cemetery in Lausanne, Switzerland where she spent the last few years of her life. Chanel's tombstone is adorned with five lions representing her favourite number and Leo, the astrological sign of her birth date. Forty-six years after her death and the name Chanel continues to represent the best in high fashion and style.

An accomplished and well-respected photographer, Gregg Felsen spent a number of years traveling the world photographing the grave sites of great politicians, philosophers, musicians, entertainers, writers, artists and more. It was a fulfilling project for Felsen in that he believed he had in some way helped to preserve a segment of world history. His style of photography draws from his intuitive eye for composition and his ability to transform visual encounters into memorable and lasting images.
