About the Item
Massive After Andy Warhol "Torso" poster, circa 1977. The poster is in good vintage condition and measures 39.38"W x 59.13"H (Image size: 35.5" x 26.88"). Printed by SMI (Société Mondiale d'Impression), Paris, France and published by Ace Gallery, Los Angeles, CA. The poster was produced in conjunction with a special exhibition of Warhol's work at the Grand Palais with Ace Gallery which ran October 22-30, 1977 in Paris, France. Warhol's "Torsos" were part of his return to still lifes, these examining the subject of classical nudes and celebrating the beauty of the male body. The exhibition unabashedly re-centered Warhol's own sexuality in his work. The image featured on this poster is of a painting by Warhol from his "Torso" series. Printer's imprint lower right. Edition size unknown. #2630
This piece was displayed in a bar in West Hollywood, CA for 40+ years and has some minor wear and fading. There is some markings along the edges of the piece that may be dust. It has not been examined outside of frame. Can be removed from frame and rolled up for shipping. It is presented in a simple black metal frame. Sorry about the glare in the pictures.
