Original vintage LNER poster advertising travel by train to the medieval city of Lincoln on the London & North Eastern Railway of England and Scotland featuring stunning artwork by the notable painter and poster artist Fred Taylor (1875-1963) of the grand interior of the historic 11th century Lincoln Cathedral (Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Lincoln / St Mary's Cathedral) with a crowd of people in the distance under the stained glass rose window and the elaborate architectural vaults. Large size. Fair condition, large restored paper losses, restored folds, several restored tears, minor staining, backed on linen.

Fred Taylor
Fred Taylor was one of Britain's leading poster artists between 1908 and the 1940s and is best known for his architectural posters. A Londoner, he studied in Paris at the Académie Julian and at Goldsmiths College, where he was awarded a gold medal for posters. A member of The Art Workers' Guild from 1924, Taylor designed many posters for the railway and shipping companies, as well as for the Empire Marketing Board. A regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy, he served during World War II as a naval caumofleur.
