It is traversed by Interstate 5, including the steep and winding section known as the Grapevine.
The northern entrance to Tejon Pass is near Lebec, south of Bakersfield.
The eastern approach from the Mojave Desert runs through Mojave and the Antelope Valley before connecting to the pass.
