He holds a long, golden scepter in one hand and gestures with the other, possibly in the act of blessing or proclamation. Behind him, a voluminous cloth backdrop and a pair of tasseled cushions suggest a throne setting, reinforcing the impression of courtly ritual and royal presence. The inscription “MCCCC. No 5” beneath the base identifies the style of the costume as c.1400, rendered with 19th-century precision and flair during the height of the Gothic Revival.
