About the Item
Antique portrait titled 'Scelte a Bolswart calcographus Antverpiae'. Portrait of the engraver Schelte Adamsz Bolswert. Schelte was born at Bolsward, and worked in Haarlem (1612-17) and Amsterdam early on in his career before later living in Brussels and Antwerp, where he died. Schelte worked regularly with Rubens and Van Dyck (from whose portrait this engraving was made).
Artists and Engravers: Adriaen Lommelin, Flemish engraver.
Condition: Good, age-related toning and some stains. Minor defects from handling, please study image carefully.
