Antique print titled 'Indianischer Wolff. In der Gross Hertzogl. Menagerie zu Florenz Anno 1744 nach dem leben gezeichnet. Das Curiöse an disem Their sind die Borste odere hare auf dem Rücken die es im gehen noch mehr aber im zorn erheben in der Ruhe niederlegen kan, die Coleur ist wie andere Wölfe nur die Borsten sind röthlicht-gelb'. Copper engraving of an Indian wolf, found in the year 1744. This print originates from 'Abbildungen der jagtbaren Thiere mit derselben angefuegten Faehrten und Spuhren (..)' by J.E. Ridinger.
Artists and Engravers: Johann Elias Ridinger (1698-1767) was a German painter, engraver, draughtsman and publisher. He is one of the most famous German engravers of animals, in particular horses, hunting scenes and dogs. He was trained in painting by Resch and Falch, and was taught engraving by Georg Philipp Rugendas.
Condition: Fair, image trimmed. Large stain. Minor wear, blank verso. Please study image carefully.
