Antique print titled 'Van Speyk 5 Febr: 1831'. Large antique print on chine collé, it shows the overrun of Jan van Speijk's gunboat by Belgian insurgents, 5 February 1831. Jan van Speijk is about to throw the burning fuse into the hold, pointing his right hand at the waving Dutch flag. On the right a boy jumps overboard. Engraved by Jean Baptiste Madou after a painting by Jacob Joseph Eckhout. Published circa 1831.
