About the Item
Antoni Tàpies is considered one of the most significant Spanish artists of the 20th century and a leading exponent of European informal art. His work combines matter, signs and symbols, often with a strong spiritual and political value. He used poor materials (sand, marble dust, paper, cloth) and graphic marks to create dense, evocative and tactile surfaces.
In the center of this graphic, a three-dimensional element stands out at the top: a rope that has been imprinted on the paper. At the bottom are two letters, "A" and the "B." Between them are suspension points connecting the two letters. The work is made using the etching, aquatint and carborundum printing technique-a technique that is used to create a relief matrix that, through pressure, transfers ink onto paper, producing an image with distinctive textures and tones.
The sheet measures 58.5x78 cm and with the frame 64x83x5.5 cm. There is a signature on the lower right and on the left the circulation 34/75.
The state of preservation is very good, showing only slight wear and tear due to age and use. The sheet is fixed at the four vertices on a rigid cardboard panel and has slight three-dimensional deformations.

Antoni Tàpies
Antoni Tàpies is considered to be Spain's most important painter after Picasso. His work is in the collections of the most important modern and contemporary museums around the world, as well as those of the most notable private collectors. Tàpies’s ultra-typical style was an almost industrial look, expressionistic slashes, thick impasto, rough and impassioned.
