Aurora And Cephale, Framed Engraving, Carracci, 17th Century?

About the Item

The framed engraving of "Aurore and Cephalus" depicts the kidnapping of Prince Cephalus by Aurore, who has fallen madly in love with him. This work was created by Annibale Carracci and illustrates a scene from the large ceiling fresco of the Palazzo Farnese in Rome. This fresco is inspired by the loves of the gods of mythology and Ovid's "Metamorphoses". Mentions: "Annibale Carracci in" (Bologna, 1557 - Parma, 1602), "C Cesio delet sculp" (Androco, 1626 - Rieti, 1686), engraver and "Fran cus Collignon formis Cumpriut s pontificis" (Nancy, around 1609 - Rome, January 18, 1687), French engraver, print dealer and publisher Annibale Carracci was an Italian painter and engraver, known for co-founding the Carracci school with his brother Agostino and their cousin Ludovico. Their workshop in Bologna played a crucial role in the transition from Mannerism to Baroque, influencing many artists of their time. The Palazzo Farnese in Rome is one of his most famous works, where he decorated the ceiling with mythological scenes. The engraving is in good general condition, although it shows traces of folding and a stain on the marie-louise. 17th century period?
