Weigel collaborated frequently with notable cartographers, including Johann Baptist Homann, enhancing his reputation for quality geographical publications. Following his death, his wife continued his publishing business. His younger brother, Johann Christoph Weigel (1661-1726), also made significant contributions as an engraver and publisher in Nuremberg.
