About the Item
Historische Wappen-Charte: Coats of Arms of the Prominent Italian Royal and Ducal Houses, 1718
This exquisite copper engraving, printed in 1718 in Nuremberg by Johann Ernst Adelbulner, showcases the coats of arms of prominent Italian royal and ducal houses.
Created by Christoph Weigel, the map originates from his 'Bequemer Schul- und Reisen-Atlas', also known as ''Atlas scholasticus et itinerarius', a well-regarded travel atlas produced in collaboration with Professor Johann David Köhler. The old color applied to this engraving highlights the ornate heraldic symbols, illustrating the wealth and heritage of Italian nobility.

Cartographer: Christoph Weigel the Elder (1654-1725) was an engraver and publisher based in Nuremberg in the early 18th century. He produced numerous works, including 70 books and series of engravings, and collaborated with other prominent figures such as Johann Baptist Homann, a successful Nuremberg cartographer. Weigel's *Descriptio Orbis Antique in XLIV tabulis* was published in 1720. Upon his death in 1725, his publishing business was continued by his wife. His younger brother, Johann Christoph Weigel (1661-1726), also played an important role as an engraver and publisher in Nuremberg.
This historical engraving serves as a vivid illustration of Italian heraldry and would have been an essential reference for scholars of European nobility and heraldic tradition during the early 18th century.

Located in Colorado Springs, CO
This original wood engraving is titled “The Restaurant of the House of Representatives, Washington, DC.” It was published as a double-page image, in the August 12, 1893 issue of the famous 19th century newspaper Harper’s Weekly. The print was illustrated by Charles Stanley Reinhardt.
The House Restaurant, a unique part of life in the Capitol, has been in the same location since the 1857 Capitol Expansion. But the restaurant also served as an informal meeting spot for members to continue conversations and deal making.
This 1893 print illustrates the convivial atmosphere. Details including elegantly dressed tables...
