Title: "Testament of Eudamidas of the City of Corinth" Description: This print depicts a scene from Lucian's 'Toxaris, or Friendship,' where Corinthian Eudamidas is seen lying in a bed, with a man sitting beside him taking down his dictation for the will, and another man standing beside the dying man. At the end of the bed, there is an old woman and a young woman mourning. The title "Testament d'Eudamidas de la ville de Corinthe" refers to the "Testament of Eudamidas of Corinth," a story that revolves around the last will of Eudamidas, a citizen of the ancient Greek city of Corinth. The scene depicted in the engraving portrays the testament or will being read or enacted, which might involve the distribution of his possessions or instructions for after his death, a common theme in historical and classical narratives reflecting on the virtues and social customs of the time.     Repaired: The map has been professionally restored with the inset of Japanese paper, visible on the reverse. A visible flattened fold line, which is common in older prints that have been stored folded. Some signs of aging, such as slight discoloration and possible foxing, which is typical of antique paper items. A few rough areas around the margins.
