About the Item

Original lithograph by Francisco Bores, published in the first and historic issue of Verve, Vol. I No. 1, December 1937, Éditions Verve, Paris. Executed in rich, saturated tones of blue, green, black, and crimson, the work reveals Bores’s personal language of abstraction—organic, lyrical and deeply rooted in color field composition. This print was produced under the supervision of Tériade, the visionary editor behind Verve, and printed at the atelier Mourlot Frères, known for its exceptional lithographic quality. Bores's contribution stands out for its rhythmic layering and chromatic balance, reflecting the transition of Spanish painting into the European avant-garde between figuration and lyrical abstraction. This is an original plate from the deluxe first edition of Verve, one of the 20th century’s most important art journals, which included contributions from Matisse, Miró, Léger, and Bonnard, among others. The piece is custom-framed in matte black lacquered wood with off-white mat board. Final framing will be completed upon purchase using archival materials. Frame shown is a mock-up for presentation.
