About the Item
Limited edition lithographic print, an original artwork by Leslie Andrews, features a symmetrical graphic composition with a tall figure of a girl with a small bird sitting on her shoulder, stepping forward towards the frame with her hands raised in dance-like gesture. She appears to be walking away from a black circle, evocative of sun in antique Japanese prints, with ombre green and blue background delineated below her hands. Her dress is unmistakably Oriental, an Art Deco interpretation of Japanese kimono; the complex print on her dress is one of focal points of the composition, with complex Chinoiserie style clouds, flowers, and leaves intertwined with more Pop Art influenced elements, like hearts and stylized lips.
The reserved, highly edited color palette of the print is supported by the choice of navy blue matting and minimal silver colored frame. The print is signed by the artist in pencil in lower right corner, and numbered in lower left corner, 49/300. It is in very good vintage condition and is ready to be displayed. The artwork would complement various interior styles, from Traditional, to Mid Century Modern, Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, Glam, Modern Country, Contemporary, Eclectic, or Collected.
Leslie Andrews is a listed American 20th century graphic artist. Andrews works include both original artwork and the interpretations of Vogue magazine covers from the Art Deco period, with lithographic poster as a preferred medium.

Roman Erlikh is a professional woodworker with over 20 years’ experience. Roman Erlikh Studio creates bespoke and limited edition contemporary furniture and art objects. His first furniture collections were inspired by traditional Art Deco and Biedermeier styles interpreted through a modern lifestyle demands. Stepping away from merely utilitarian view of everyday objects, his recent collections are filled with meaningful textual context while incorporating traditional and modern woodworking techniques. Roman is using practical function as a common denominator to create emotionally charged art objects, blurring the boundary between art and function. While appreciating possibilities of ordinary materials, Roman is developing new mixed media multilayered composite varnishes and utilizes decorative gilding and mica veneer to actively engage ambient light, giving an additional aspect to relation of his objects to their environment. The decision to work in custom format was based on environmental concerns and opposition to culture of mass production and pure consumerism. The choice of materials was heavily influenced by sustainability and environmental concerns. All objects are made locally in the Brooklyn Navy Yard workshop. Elimination of storage and transportation needs for mass-produced furniture in lieu of creating a custom made objects on demand allows us to reduce waste of materials and energy.

A wonderfully composed and colored, limited edition woodblock print by famed Japanese artist Junichiro Sekino.
This print, which is titled "Profile/ Portrait of Young Girl in Kimono", is signed and sealed/ stamped in red at the lower right. It was created in 1957 and comes from a limited edition of 100 prints (the exact number of this particular print is likely listed in pencil below the matt but we have not removed the print from the frame to confirm the exact number). An exquisite and rare/hard-to-find work. The detail in the girl's kimono is quite beautiful.
Junichiro Sekino was largely considered, along with Kiyoshi Saito, to be one of Japan's paramount 20th-century master print artists. Both were prominent leaders of the Sosaku Hanga movement. Sekino's works can be found in many museums including:

A truly wonderful and extremely rare limited edition woodblock print by famed Japanese artist Junichiro Sekino
This print of a pensive young girl dressed in a poncho and hat (likely in Mexico or Central/ South America) is hand pencil signed, sealed/ stamped in red, and numbered (appears to be 12/98 or 19/98) by Sekino. The image features a uniquely sparse composition and rich vibrant colors - very representative of the country this was likely initially conceived in. An exquisite and very rare/hard-to-find work. We have not seen this particular image ever come to the marketplace.
