About the Item
This lithograph, “The Enchantment of the Hours – The Rainbow”, is signed by Henri Rivière and bears a red stamped mark in the lower left corner. The artwork is authentic and original.
As for its condition, please note a difference in margin size between the top and bottom, a slight crease in the right margin and in the lower corners. There are also small stains in places, both on the lithograph and in the margins.
The lithograph retains very fresh colors, and once framed, most imperfections will be barely noticeable.
Henri Rivière (1864–1951) was a French painter, printmaker, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then moved on to intaglio printmaking, specifically etching, in 1882. At the same time, he began working as a stage director and set designer in 1886 for the shadow theatre at the cabaret Le Chat Noir, where he innovated with colored scenery. He later devoted himself exclusively to painting and printmaking, becoming a major figure in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he produced around a thousand watercolors).
