About the Item

Original heliogravure from the first edition of Verve (Vol. 1, No. 1, 1937), the legendary Paris-based art journal founded by Tériade. This photograph by Nora Dumas, one of the most poetic voices in French humanist photography, presents a sensual allegorical scene evoking the biblical moment of Eve reaching for the forbidden fruit. Shot outdoors and steeped in natural light, Dumas captures the female form with delicacy and reverence. Her composition blends the bodies into the landscape, creating a timeless tableau that reflects both innocence and temptation. Printed in rich monochrome tones using the heliogravure process, this image is part of a seminal publication that included works by Man Ray, Brassaï, Cartier-Bresson and Matisse. Framed in high-quality black lacquered wood. The frame shown is a mockup and will be custom produced upon sale. Passepartout dimensions may vary slightly.
