Untitled, the Show Is over / Christopher Wool & Felix Gonzalez-Torres, 1993
By Christopher Wool
Located in London, GB
United Kingdom - Offset Lithograph on Paper, from the original show 1993 Christopher Wool’s paintings and prints explore the confluence of image, text, and pattern. They often feature enigmatic, confrontational found phrases or illegible scribbles, which are either stencilled or plastered in black across flat white fields. The artist occasionally covers the compositions with spray-paint marks and screen-printed elements (some taken from his previous works), erasing and relayering as he goes. His process—which focuses on the possibilities of reproduction, appropriation, and accretion—is as important as the results themselves. Wool studied at Sarah Lawrence College and the New York Studio School. New York’s vibrant 1970s downtown No Wave and punk scenes became major influences, and Wool reached his mature style in the mid-1980s. Wool has exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Paris, Tokyo, Berlin, and beyond, and his work belongs in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Centre Pompidou, and the Tate. His work has achieved eight figures on the secondary market. Drawing from Minimalism and Conceptualism, Felix Gonzalez...

Educated at the Accademia di Brera in Milan, he has since worked in both London and Paris. His art is influenced by Pop Art. Adami was born in Bologna. In 1945, at the age of ten, he began to study painting under the instruction of Felice Carena. He was accepted into the Brera Academy (Accademia di Brera) in 1951, and there studied as a draughtsman until 1954 in the studio of Achille Funi. In 1955 he went to Paris, where he met and was influenced by Roberto Matta and Wifredo Lam. His first solo exhibition came in 1959 in Milan. In his early career, Adami's works were expressionistic, but by the time of his second exhibition in 1964 at Kassel, he had developed a style of painting reminiscent of French Cloisonnism, featuring regions of flat color bordered by black lines. Unlike Gauguin, however, Adami's subjects were highly stylized and often presented in fragments, as seen in Telescoping Rooms (1965). In the 1970s, Adami began to address politics in his art, and incorporated subject matter such as modern European history, literature, philosophy, and mythology. In 1971, he and his brother Giancarlo created the film Vacances dans le désert. In 1974 he illustrated a Helmut Heissenbuttel poem, Occasional Poem No. 27. By Werner Büttner
Located in Hamburg, DE
Original color linocut by Werner Büttner "Nachleben" in yellow and black. Printed on laid paper and signed and dated in pencil on the right. The paper has some compressions and slight creases, otherwise the condition is good. Shortly before the Wall was built in 1961, Büttner moved with his parents from the GDR to Munich. Moved to Berlin in 1968 and studied law at the Freie Universität Berlin from 1973 to 1977. After his studies he worked as a social worker in the Tegel prison. He was a co-founder of several humorously titled organizations such as the "Dum-Dum-Liga-Journal", setting up a seed bank for GDR refugees. In 1976, together with Albert Oehlen, he founded the League to Combat Contradictory Behavior. In the 1980s, together with the brothers Albert and Markus Oehlen and Martin Kippenberger, he was counted among the so-called "newcomers" or "young wild ones" in painting, who turned away from conceptual art and propagated a "return of painting...
