1970s Tapestry by Claude Prévost
About the Item
Rare “Brouillard” tapestry from the 1970s by Claude Prévost, the renowned French upholsterer and collaborator of Pierre Cardin. Colored wools. Monogrammed C. P. in the weft in the lower center; countersigned, titled and numbered 7/8 by hand on the back canvas.
Claude Prévost (1934-2013) was both a close friend and a trusted collaborator of Pierre Cardin. Among his notable achievements was the decoration of the Salon Végétal in Cardin’s legendary Palais Bulle, located on the French Riviera.
Like other leading artists and designers of the 1970s - Maria Pergay, Boris Tabacoff, Paolo Leoni, or Yonel Lebovici, Claude Prevost also collaborated with Pierre Cardin on avant-garde designs that infused 1970s furniture with a bold, contemporary sensibility.
