Antique Chinese Silk Embroidery Panel – Late Qing Dynasty

About the Item

Framed Antique Chinese Silk Embroidery Panel with Butterflies and Blossoms China, Late Qing Dynasty, circa 1880–1910 A refined Chinese silk embroidery panel, dating to the late 19th to early 20th century, finely hand-stitched in coloured silks on a lustrous blue ground. The vertical composition features butterflies amidst flowering branches, rendered in soft shades of coral, ivory and green with remarkable delicacy and precision. Symbolising joy, harmony and natural renewal, these motifs are traditional in Chinese decorative arts and were often incorporated into robes or interior hangings. The textile is now mounted on patterned silk brocade and presented under glass in a later giltwood frame, highlighting the richness of the original embroidery while preserving it for decorative or collector display. Dimensions (framed): Height: 78 cm (30.7 in) Width: 40 cm (15.7 in) Condition: Very good overall condition. The silk retains excellent colour and detail. Minor signs of age to the mount and frame, consistent with careful handling.
