French 18th Century Verdure Tapestry

About the Item

This romantic 18th Century verdure tapestry will transport you to an idyllic riparian town nestled in the hills of the French countryside. Done in autumnal colors of burnt oranges, golds, browns, reds and greens, this stunning woven textile would have an enormous impact on your room or space. A meandering river is central to the scene, with a bridge in the foreground, giving access to the small village. Two trees anchoring the foreground bear a healthy cover of foliage for a few birds, keeping a watchful eye on their forest domain. The tapestry is bordered in a dense repeat of floral and foliate details with styled flourishes in the corners, and a dark brown fringe on the left and right sides. Take some time to view the detailed images to see the current condition of the tapestry and wonder at its artistry and finer points. Reinforced at the top with a strip of velvet stitched with eye hooks for hanging.
