Rare Tapestry by Henri Gineste "Le Fou du Roy" Kings Joker & Exhibit Catalog

About the Item

A rare and beautiful Mid-Century Modern French tapestry or hanging wall art. This tapestry is by the very talented French tapestry maker and ceramic artist Henri Gineste and is titled Le Fou du Roy or The Kings Joker. Henri Gineste, born in Béziers in 1929. At barely 22 years old, he began to exhibit at the Salon des Indépendants. In the year 1966 alone, he thus produced about twenty tapestries and had them assembled according to a new formula, developed after he had convinced Francois Hay, this magician of abstractions, also reiterated in the Cevennes but this time in the Gard, to manufacture them according to the flat process. Dimensions: 40 7/8" height x 28" width x 1 3/8" thick (deep) Perfect vintage condition. Being sold with the original Galerie De Laborde exhibition catalog from the Paris, France event. The artist signature is hand-written on the back of the tapestry. This vintage Henri Gineste Mid-Century Modern French tapestry or hanging wall art is a wonderful statement piece for any modern, contemporary or mid-century interior.
