About the Item

Woven study, Aubusson tapestry in wool and silk hand-woven on the looms of the Manufacture Robert Four in Aubusson, France. Fineness of weave: 18. Frame not included. «Ras El Hanout» was the inaugural exhibition of Pierre Marie’s gallery, a modular space designed to showcase new creations and series of collectible pieces by Pierre Marie. Curated around the eponymous Aubusson tapestry, the exhibition was the occasion to unveil this monumental and complex piece, which was handwoven over the course of 6 months with 255 thread colors at the Manufacture Robert Four. You can purchase here a study based on the cinnamon, one of the spices represented on the master tapestry. Pierre Marie Studio is a multi-disciplinary design firm based in Paris. We create works of art, designs and interiors for private and corporate clients. Born from the practice of artist decorator Pierre Marie, the Studio’s activity focuses on applied arts and creating rich designs that befit the crafts and techniques of our partner artisans. A long time collaborator of various luxury brands, Pierre Marie’s artistic practice combines narration with ornament, and finds its full expression in working with master craftsmen. With a background in fashion and creative art direction, his work has found many applications to revive and magnify the tradition of decorative arts. He has in particular developed a passion for the arts of tapestry and stained glass over the years, which are at the heart of the Studio’s enterprise.
