About the Item

Museum quality carved wall panel in wooden frame. Cockfights are a popular kind of local entertainment in Bali. They are often held as cleansing ceremonies to purify a village of evil magic influences. A cockfight is also seen as a sport, sometimes with (heavy) betting on the side and with the fights often ending in death. However, this serene work of art displays none of that violence. This contradiction makes this rare work of art extra special and desirable. This work of art is marked 'Ida. Bg. Md. Raka, Batuan'. Ida Bagus Made Raka (1918-1976) of Batuan, Indonesia is a famous painter who only occasionally made wood carvings. His paintings are very rare and highly sought after by collectors around the world. There also is a round stamp on the back. This official stamp says and guarantees that this work of art was legally exported out of Bali, Indonesia. Mind you, perfect packaging and worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 days is complimentary. Maximum height x width x depth: 19.75 x 24.75 x 1 inches. Arts and Crafts Era Coat Rack with Detailed and Deeply Carved Alabaster Tiles
Located in Lisse, NL
Antique and unique wall coatrack with amazing alabaster carvings. It is not often that you find an antique that is not completely original, but where they have done a great job in creating a, so called, marriage that simply looks beautiful. This handcrafted wall coat rack was made around 1900-1910, but the exeptionally detailed, hand carved alabaster tiles date back to circa 1850-1870. These mis-Victorian works of beauty are hand-carved in deep relief and both the fruits in the vases as the scrolling leaf patterns in the center tile are among the most detailed we have ever seen. All three tiles have no breaks in them and only minor losses. So if you are looking for a unique antique wall rack...

Large Vintage Balinese Painting on Silk from Ubud Bali 1960's
Located in North Hollywood, CA
Mid 20th Century Balinese Painting on silk fabric, Framed. Vintage large Balinese art painting, from Ubud, Bali acrylic on silk. Beautiful artwork by the Indonesian artist from Ubud. Painted in Peliatan, Ubud Bali by VJ. Kupur as signed on the bottom left hand corner. Balinese Folk Festival ceremonial procession, Ink and acrylic paint on canvas. Batuan painting evolved in the 1930s after a group of local villagers tested different forms with ink-washed paintings upon black backgrounds. These paintings often reveal Batuan’s cultural life, directly through their elements of line, shape, and tone. Meticulous design, craftsmanship, and strong visual impression are characteristic of the style. The painting comprise individual shapes which are painted in a precise and systematic manner that does not leave any empty space. The complexity of the paintings is inevitable as each of the strokes, lines, gradations, the characters or the subjects forms a delicate unity that finely balances the figure-filled canvas. Various gradations of colors separate different sections of the painting. The landscape is enticing and endless. About Bali Art...
