About the Item

An extra-large example of Tasca ceramics. This wall plate or tray from the studio of Alessio Tasca is a lovely example of decorative Italian ceramics. It dates to the late 1950s. The tight geometric intricacy of the background is an exciting precursor to Tasca’s later geometric work. Alessio Tasca's artistic journey involved a significant transition around 1961. He co-founded the "Tasca Artigiani Ceramisti" workshop with his brothers Marco and Flavio in 1948, which remained active until 1967. However, Alessio departed from the family workshop in October 1961 to establish his own atelier in Via Roberti, Nove . During his tenure at "Tasca Artigiani Ceramisti," between the late 1940s and early 1960s, the workshop produced a range of ceramics that blended traditional techniques with modern aesthetics. These included sgraffito decorated plates and vessels, often characterized by stylized figures and motifs inspired by 15th and 16th-century paintings . The workshop's production during this period was notable for its quality and design, setting it apart from other mass-produced ceramics of the time . Good condition overall, there are a couple of nips to the glaze on each side, very small, we've pointed them out in the images with a sharp pencil. Lovely quality ceramic ware from an expert ceramicist.
