Large 19th Century Glass Clock Face

About the Item

A large 19th century American milk glass clock face with faded Roman numerals around the perimeter. The numbers were originally applied to the surface of the glass and have left a shadow impression. The mineral, manganese, used to be added to glass to eliminate the green cast that occurs in the manufacturing process. When exposed to UV light, manganese turns lavender. This clock face has a slight lavender hue and the numbers appear in their original white milk glass.
