About the Item
A charming and most decorative pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Patinated Bronze wall plaques, in the manner of Clodion. Each elongated oval plaque depicts charming winged cherubs draped in wonderful flowing ribbons and garments joyously dancing and playing on a cloud like background. The male cherubs display wonderfully detailed cupid like wings, with one wielding a torch, while the female cherubs showcase the wings of butterflies. Reminiscent of Cupid and Psyche, with lovely subject matter and attention to detail throughout.
