About the Item

Pair of Monumental British Art Deco Plaster Panels in Gilt Frames, circa 1930 An exceptionally impressive and highly decorative pair of monumental plaster relief panels, made in Britain circa 1930. Originally created as architectural features for a theatre interior, these grand-scale panels are cast in gesso plaster and painted in a refined Wedgwood blue and white palette. Each panel features a classical female figure modelled in high relief, set within an arched niche – drawing influence from neoclassical and allegorical traditions, reimagined through the lens of early 20th-century British Art Deco. The panels are now set within later, finely detailed gilt wood frames, richly ornamented with scrollwork and rocaille embellishment to the corners and centres. Together, they create a bold and theatrical decorative statement, ideally suited to a grand interior, gallery space, or high-concept commercial project.
