About the Item

Elegant Art Deco period platinum, 3.75 TCW diamond bracelet with a concealed miniature Hamilton watch. Fabulous, substantial design with a central diamond three row rectangular panel of baguette diamonds flanked by full cut round diamonds, surrounded by flute shaped diamond shoulders ending in a platinum double bangle back. Concealed bracelet watches are especially sought after for their seamless impact and surprise hidden feature. For nearly a century, Hamilton watches have been associated with the glamour of Hollywood. In 1932, the inimitable Marlene Deitrich was the first to wear a Hamilton watch on-screen in the film Shanghai Express. Over the years, film industry production designers have chosen Hamilton watches for over 500 major motion picture productions. Hamilton has produced watches for such notable retailers as Tiffany & Co and is known for their high level of quality and design. Elegant diamond dress watches have experienced a Renaissance in recent times with a number of Hollywood celebrities opting for a chic diamond watch for their Red Carpet appearance. Historically, these marvelous creations have graced some notable wrists - Queen Elizabeth II chose one for her coronation and Princess Diana was often photographed with a beautiful diamond timepiece. These impactful jewels were designed as bracelets so that the wearer could discretely check the time. They required tiny, precise mechanisms and were technically revolutionary for their time. As with all of the best classics, the diamond dress watch is on trend today with many of the top jewelers offering the model- Graff with Tilda's Bow, Harry Winston- Mini Twist, Chaumet- Torsade de Chaumet, Van Cleef & Arpels- Perlee, to name just a few. Pair French Antique Rose Cut Diamond 18K Gold Bracelets, Early Marcus & Co.
Located in New York, NY
Fabulous pair of antique French Rose cut and European cut diamond 18K rose gold and silver topped gold bracelets, the diamonds 4.45 TCW, in an early Marcus & Co. leather silk lined box, marked Jaques & Marcus. Marcus & Co. began as a partnership with George B. Jaques as Jaques & Marcus in Union Square, New York City. Jaques retired in 1892 and the business changed its name to Marcus & Co. thereafter. The company had ties with French jewelry designers- the French miniature portraitist Fernand Paillet designed a pendant for them and it is likely that they retailed French pieces in their New York City showroom. Metropolitan Museum of Art has a Jaques & Marcus insect form brooch in their collection, marked J&M on the hook and lists the firm as being active from about 1882 to 1892. The MMA brooch...
