About the Item
This gorgeous 8.5" bracelet (adjustable to 9" by pulling the pair of jade beads) is composed of 14 natural, hand-carved agarwood (oud) beads, between each of which is a high-quality 5mm solid 18K yellow gold bead, for a total of 16 beads that together weigh .96 grams. A pair of exceedingly high-quality nephrite beads from Russia (Siberia) allow you to adjust the bracelet, which is strung on thick yellow silk. Yellow has long been associated with the Imperial Court in China. A 14.55 x 10.73 Haitian nephrite jade bead with delicately carved dimples serves as the focal point.
Agarwood, is a rare, fragrant wood also known as oud, and has been a featured ingredient in some of the world's most prized perfumes. The finest specimens sell for over $100,00 a pound. This Agarwood is not antique or vintage and has a faint, lovely natural aroma.
I create each jade beaded bracelet by hand, using natural and untreated Grade A jadeite jade or nephrite jade. Although I'm not including lab certificates with these bracelets to keep the cost down, all of the jade I'm using comes from my vast personal inventory of beads, all from trusted sources I have developed over many years. Beads from each source have been previously tested by a gem lab and determined to be natural and untreated. I am a gemologist with advanced training in jade as well as a second-generation jade collector. And I have sold hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of the finest jade jewelry right here on 1stdibs since my store opened. The only treatment any of the jade I sell has undergone is a paraffin waxing. Jade has been waxed for thousands of years.
