Jade Bracelet with Siberian Nephrite Jade, Mutton Fat Jade, & Silver, Stretch
About the Item
This gorgeous 7 ¾" beaded stretch bracelet is composed of 14 exceedingly fine quality 7mm apple-green Russian nephrite jade. These beads are what remain from a necklace I created. The gem lab report for the beads stated that they are untreated nephrite and display slight chatoyancy. Which describes a sort of shimmering quality of light below the surface. A 9.5mm bead of the same material serves as a focial point. Flanking this larger bead are a pair of gleaming, waxy white "mutton fat" Hetian jade from South-Western Xinjiang, China. For thousands of years, nephrite jade from this region of China has been considered the finest nephrite in the world. These 6.9mm x 8mm slightly barrel-shaped beads are each "followed" by a quite dense and heavy handmade hammered solid silver 5.5mm bead. This is some of the very finest nephrite you will ever encounter. The apple green beads are so finely-grained and translucent, they resemble jadeite from Burma. And the "mutton fat" white beads are not the slightly greenish-white Korean material most commonly passed off as "mutton fat." These beads are the real deal. And the silver beads. Jade and silver have been companions for thousands of years.
The bracelet measures 7 ¾" in length and an un-stretched diameter of 59mm, so it will fit small and medium wrists with ease and comfort. It will also fit larger wrists but will remain taught against the skin.
This is no flimsy stretch bracelet like others you've come across. You'll appreciate the quality of this piece the moment you take it out of the box. It's a step (or three) up from stretch bracelets you've seen elsewhere.
With this particular bracelet, I used two incredibly durable elastic cords, not one. This is a durable bracelet you can wear and enjoy, without having to worry about. It possesses the authority of quality, so you could wear it alone. But it also looks great along with several other bracelets.
I create each jade beaded bracelet by hand, using natural and untreated Grade A jadeite jade or nephrite jade. Although I'm not including lab certificates with these bracelets to keep the cost down, all of the jade I'm using comes from my vast personal inventory of beads, all from trusted sources I have developed over many years. Beads from each source have been previously tested by a gem lab and determined to be natural and untreated. I am a gemologist with advanced training in jade as well as a second-generation jade collector. And I have sold hundreds of thousands of dollar's worth of the finest jade jewelry right here on 1stdibs since my store opened. The only treatment any of the jade I sell has undergone is a paraffin waxing. Jade has been waxed for thousands of years.
