About the Item

This gorgeous 7.5" beaded stretch bracelet is composed of 22 exceedingly fine quality, highly translucent bluish-green natural and untreated jadeite beads from Guatemala. Jadeite is among the rarest gems on earth; jadeite of this color is found only in Guatemala, making it rarer still. The beads are accompanied by 6 hand-carved and polished agarwood beads. This rare, fragrant wood is also known as oud, and has been a featured ingredient in some of the world's most prized perfumes. The finest specimens sell for over $100,00 a pound. A 10mm jadeite bead serves as the focal point of the bracelet and is flanked on either side by wrapped wire silver beads -soldered, so they do not unravel. The bracelet measures 7.5" in length and an un-stretched diameter of 62mm, so it will fit medium and larger wrists with ease. It's so comfortable to wear alone, or stacked with other bracelets. It's made for anyone of any gender, but would not be the best choice for an individual with very small hands *smaller than 62mm from knuckle to knuckle). I have an 8" wrist and can wear this comfortably, as you can see in several of the images. This is no flimsy stretch bracelet like others you've come across. You'll appreciate the quality of this piece the moment you take it out of the box. It's a step (or three) up from stretch bracelets you've seen elsewhere. With this particular bracelet, I used two incredibly durable elastic cords, not one. This is a durable bracelet you can wear and enjoy, without having to worry about. Because of the wood accent beads, you might want to apply a light natural wax now and then. (industry insider secret: many lapidary artists use Lemon Pledge as a finishing touch and this would also help protect the wood.) I create each jade beaded bracelet by hand, using natural and untreated Grade A jadeite jade or nephrite jade. Although I'm not including lab certificates with these bracelets to keep the cost down, all of the jade I'm using comes from my vast personal inventory of beads, all from trusted sources I have developed over many years. Beads from each source have been previously tested by a gem lab and determined to be natural and untreated. I am a gemologist with advanced training in jade as well as a second-generation jade collector. And I have sold hundreds of thousands of dollar's worth of the finest jade jewelry right here on 1stdibs since my store opened. I am a platinum seller with 100% 5-star reviews and many of my customers come back again and again. The only treatment any of the jade I sell has undergone is a paraffin waxing. Jade has been waxed for thousands of years. The last six images were taken in the morning on an overcast day in New England -not the most flattering light to photograph gems- and yet, look. The magic of jade is that because of its unique internal crystal structure, it captures light, greedily holds onto it, and releases it gently, vastly improved, back into the world at its leisure. Sturdy, beautiful, one-of-a-kind, and classy, you can wear this bracelet alone or with others.

Jade Bracelet Guatemalan Jadeite Jade, Silver, Beaded Stretch, 7" Sm-Med Size
By Augusten Burroughs
Located in Southbury, CT
This 7" beaded stretch bracelet will fit small to medium hands and wrists and is composed of 28 hand-carved and hand-polished natural and untreated jadeite jade beads from Guatemala. The beads are an almost aquamarine bluish-green, and alternate between 8mm rondelle-shaped beads and round oness. All of the beads are highly translucent; almost watery. It's a tricky color to capture accurately in the studio, so I've included images taken with my phone outside in natural light and inside near a window. Seven 2.5mm wide handmade sterling silver beads are stationed along the bracelet and an 8.5mm cylindrical bead serves as a focal point. This bracelet is highly translucent and luminous. The pictures describe the tones better than I can. Jadeite has a unique crystal structure that causes it to process light in a completely unique way, with the result being luxurious luminosity, even in the dimmest light. This is no flimsy stretch bracelet like others you've come across. You'll appreciate the quality of this piece the moment you take it out of the box. It's a step (or three) up from stretch bracelets you've seen elsewhere. I use two strength-proven elastic cords, not just one. This is a durable bracelet you can wear and enjoy, without having to worry about. It possesses the authority of quality and rarity, so you could wear it alone. Remember: this is a bracelet composed of one of the rarest gemstones on earth. But it also looks great along with several other bracelets. I like to wear four at a time. Luxurious and so unique, this could become your signature bracelet if you have a medium-sized wrist. About Jadeite from Guatemala: The vast majority of jadeite comes from one location: Burma (Myanmar). Jadeite forms under highly specific geological conditions that exist in only seven or eight locations on the planet and Guatemala has these conditions. The ancient Mayan civilization knew jade well and used it for jewelry, masks and more. But like the ancient cities themselves, the jungles consumed the jade mines...

Jade Bracelet Guatemalan Jadeite Jade, 18K, Beaded Stretch, 69mm, 8.75" XL Size
By Augusten Burroughs
Located in Southbury, CT
This 8.75" beaded stretch bracelet is composed of the most stunning and unique hand-carved jadeite jade beads from Guatemala. With an inner diameter of approximately 69mm unstretched, this will those with fit medium, large and XL hands and wrists. As long as your hand is larger than 69mm measured from knuckle to knuckle, it won't slide off your wrist. The bracelet is composed entirely of 28 hand-carved and hand-polished natural and untreated jadeite jade beads from Guatemala and they vary widely in both size and shape. From a 10mm x 8mm cylindrical black jade bead to an 8.15mm almost perfectly round deep emerald-green bead. Two beads are in the 16mm range and several of them have a "primitive" cut, much like the beads the ancient Mayan's would have worn. The tones here are spectacular. From a lush jungle green to the iconic bluish-green only found in Guatemala. There is yellowish green, pale mint green, teal, and emerald. Even the large opaque beads possess a luminous quality. And the translucent beads are just captivating. Three solid 18K gold 5mm beads and one thick, 11mm hand-hammered 18K gold ring complete the bracelet. It weighs a hefty 55 grams, so it's deeply satisfying on the wrist. As a second-generation jade collector, the unique jade from Guatemala has become my favorite variety of jade; my favorite gem. Burma (Myanmar) has long been the primary source for all jadeite in the world. While jadeite is found in other areas in very small amounts, none can equal the magnificence and range of colors that Burmese jade has to offer. It is among the world's most expensive gems because fine jadeite is extremely rare. Jadeite can only form under highly specific geological conditions and Guatemala has these conditions. The ancient Mayan civilization knew jade well and used it for jewelry, masks and more. But like the ancient cities themselves, the jungles consumed the jade mines...
