About the Item

Castellani’s Prehistoric bracelet is designed using the Ancient motif of concentric circles. Many Ancient civilizations created jewellery using this spiral of metal. In the circa 1860’s Castellani created this bracelet that now is on exhibit at the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome, Italy. Each connecting link is hand made and attached by our craftsman and is very flexible and wearable. The Castellani and Double C logo plates are affixed to the clasp. Castellani’s Jewellery from the 19th Century is in museums: British Museum; Victoria & Albert Museum; Metropolitan Museum of Art; The Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt Museum to name a few); exhibitions as well as in private collections. Fortunato Pio Castellani can be called the "Father of Archeological Revival Jewellery". In the mid 1800's in Rome, Castellani had the entree to visit the Ancient Etruscan ruins. He was able to study these Ancient designs as well as other Ancient Mediterranean civilizations’ jewellery and started to create and re-design under his brand.
