Margot de Taxco Cloisonne Lemon Bracelet, Brooch and Two Earrings Set
About the Item
Stunning rare find Enamel Guilloche 925 sterling silver bracelet, brooch and 2 pair of earrings set by Margot de Taxco. All pieces hallmarked, made in Mexico, design #5614. Bracelet has a box clasp closure and safety chain and is in perfect working order. Earrings are screw back.
All pieces are in perfect vintage condition with no loss of enamel or visible damages.
Margot van Voorhies moved to Mexico in 1937. She eventually found her way to Taxco, at the time a center for artists and bon vivants. It was in Taxco that she met and married Antonio Castillo. In 1939, Antonio established his own workshop, “Los Castillo” with Margot as principal designer, along with Jorge “Chato” Castillo and Salvador Teran.
Antonio and Margot were married for 10 years. When they divorced, Margot became Margot de Taxco. She opened her own workshop in 1948. Her work remains unique – influenced by her interest in Art Deco, Mayan and Japanese motifs and her work with enamel on silver.
CONDITION: Has expected surface scratches and wear. Has been lightly polished, but has some tarnish / soiling in deep grooves consistent with age.
