About the Item

This is a museum quality and very rare Art Deco Solje Brooch with exquisite enamel and silver gilt from Norway. The "Solje" brooch was often used as part of the traditional Norwegian folk costume known as the Bunad. This jewel is silver gilt, 830 silver with a gold wash. There is a stunning central medallion with gorgeous guilloche enamel designs in blue and white enamel. Three pendant drops hang from the center. The silver work is a delicate open work filigree design. This is one of the most beautiful antique enamel Solje Brooches from Norway and it is in superb condition. Such a treasure! The brooch dates to circa 1870-1920. The brooch is 2 7/8 inches (7.2 cm) long and is 1 3/8 inches (3.5 cm) wide. The brooch is hallmarked 830 for 830 silver. The brooch weighs 9.3 grams.
