About the Item
A pair of oval mixed-cut ruby and round brilliant-cut diamond floral clip earrings in 18 karat yellow gold, French, 1950s. Each earring is modelled as a stylized lotus flower, with a deep red oval-shaped ruby claw-set to the center, the seven petals pave-set throughout with extremely high-quality round brilliant-cut diamonds. The earrings are secured to reverse with a clip fitting and no post, making them ideal for both pierced and non-pierced ears.
Rubies: 2; oval mixed-cut; approximately 2.0 carats in total; slightly purplish red color. Diamonds: approximately 1.50 carats in total; D-F color; VVS-VS clarity. Dimensions: 2.5 x 1.8 cm. Gross weight: 11.8g.
French export mark “Ste D” (possibly for Dupeguy Paris); partial mark “Bte SGDG” (for Patents without the government’s guarantee, used 1844-1968); French assay mark for 18kt gold; marked “750” for 18kt gold; later Portuguese import marks for 18kt gold.
