About the Item

A gorgeous boxed Etruscan jewelry set from the Victorian (ca1880) era! The 3-piece set is crafted in 15kt yellow gold and comprised of a pair of earrings and a complimentary brooch. All three pieces dangle a shield-shaped link at the base, which is complete with 3-dimensional details, and fine Etruscan wirework and beadwork accents applied to the surface. The earrings hang from gold wires at the top, which are attached to circular surmounts with tiny gold ball links hanging freely at the center. The brooch has an elaborate chevron surmount at the top, with a secure bar pin and clasp attached to the back. When worn together, the set looks positively magnificent! Included is the original antique jewelry box, which is lined in satin and stamped "Starr & Marcus" and "22 John St N.Y." inside the lid. A very strong Victorian set, it would make a fabulous addition to any collection! The earrings hang approximately 2 1/4" long (including the wire tops), and measure 3/4" wide and 1/4" at the thickest point. The pin measures 2 1/4" tall, 1 1/4" wide, and 1/4" at the thickest point. The overall condition of the earring/pin set is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting, or to the Etruscan wirework details. The earring wires and the pin clasp are secure and in good working condition. There is a natural patina on the surface of the gold, which is a normal characteristic of antique jewelry. The box shows normal signs of surface wear commensurate with age, but remains in good antique condition. The hinges are intact and the clasp snaps securely shut.
