About the Item

A pair of lotus earrings by Ilgiz F, each earring with five lotus flowers with blue champlevé enamelled petals and diamond set peduncles, suspending a drop shaped cultured pearl, the diamonds weighing 1.77 carats, all mounted in 18ct gold with post and clip fittings, made by Ilgiz Fazulzyanov, hallmarked 18ct gold, London 2019, measuring approximately 6.6cm long, gross weight 26.8 grams. This stunning pair of earrings was made by Ilgiz Fazulzyanov, a widely recognized master in the art of jewellery and particularly enamelwork. Each of these earrings features a blue lotus design accentuated by diamonds and a pearl. The blue lotus is a flower native to Egypt, and it was an ever-present motif in Ancient Egyptian art. The style of Ilgiz’s lotuses echoes the geometric way in which Ancient Egyptian art depicted the flower. The style of these earrings is also influenced by Art Deco design, and particularly the Egyptian revival period of the 1920s. The lotuses are decorated with exquisite blue enamel petals, and each of their peduncles is set with sparkling diamonds. Suspended from each earring is a large and lustrous cultured pearl. Ilgiz Fazulzyanov has twice been awarded the grand prize at the International Jewellery Design Excellence Awards, and his work is held in the collection of world-renowned museums including the Kremlin Museum in Moscow. This magnificent pair of earrings comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.
