Maltese cross pendant brooch from the mid century. A beautiful three dimensional piece, created in Italy during the late mid-century period, back in the 1960's. This convertible pendant brooch have been crafted in the shape of a Maltese cross in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with highly textured finish. Fitted with an open hook to wear in a chain or necklace and a hinged horizontal pin bar to wear as a brooch. Although the Maltese cross design had already been used for more than 2000 years since ancient times, fashion and jewelry houses such as Verdura, Channel and Bvlgari integrated this very popular model into their designs. Being since then an icon of high fashion. One of the most iconic pieces of jewelry depicting a Maltese cross, was designed by Fulco Di Verdura (1899-1978) in 1920, when he created the iconic Maltese cross cuff bracelet for his friend Coco Chanel. Diamonds: Bezel set with 12 round brilliant cut diamonds with a combined weight of 1.32 Carats, white colorless F/G color, VS-2 Clarity Gemstones: Mount in the middle, raising with a round bullet cabochon cut (15 x 15 x 12 mm) of a natural Afghani blue lapis lazuli of 20.41 carats. Weight: 51.5 Grams, (33.01 Dwt). Measurements: 48 mm by 48 mm by 30 mm (1.89 x 1.89 x 1.18 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark and the gold assay mark, "18KT". Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box. Condition: The overall condition of this piece is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. This convertible oversized Maltese pendant-brooch has been carefully assembled with elements crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with brushed, satined, textured and polished finish, creating a great surfaces contrast. An enameled brooch designed by Peter Lindeman (1930-2024). This is a gorgeous modernist brooch, created in New York City by the artist and goldsmith Peter Lindeman, back in the 1970. The beautiful brooch was carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with polished finish and embellished with applications of green and blue glass enamels.The brooch is mounted with seventeen gorgeous white colorless diamonds and is fitted at the reverse with a hinged pin bar with a mechanical twist lock.
