David Webb 1960 New York Pendant-Brooch in 18kt Gold with 2.42 Cts in Gemstones

Pendant Brooch designed by David Webb. Gorgeous and bold versatile piece, created in New York city at the atelier of the Iconic David Webb, back in the 1960. This massive pendant has been crafted with organics and ropes motifs in solid yellow gold of 18 karats. Suited at the reverse with a hinged double pins bars with a trombone lock to wear as a brooch and a discrete flexible hook to wear in a necklace or a chain. Embellished with 22 round brilliant cut calibrated gemstones, all of them mount in four-prongs settings and are described as follow; 2 diamonds, 0.26 Carats, F color, VS-2 clarity. 10 vivid blue Ceylon Sapphires, 1.23 carats. 10 vivid green Colombian Emeralds, 0.93 Carats. Has a total weight of 94.95 Grams and a measures of 68 mm by 62 mm (2.68 x 2.45 Inches). Stamped, with the maker's mark, the gold assay hallmark and signed, "WEBB 18 K". David Webb (1925-1975), was an American jeweler. On July 28, 1948, he founded David Webb, the company, which opened at 2 West 46th Street. Among his clients were Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Barbara Streisand and Beyoncé have also worn his jewelry. Born in Asheville, North Carolina in 1925, Webb was a self-taught designer whose work included dragon bracelets, Maltese cross brooches and animal motifs. In 1964, The Duke of Windsor purchased a bracelet for his wife. Diana Vreeland, a noted columnist and editor of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, was often seen with a David Webb black-and-white enamel zebra bangle. Note: This is a very early piece, manufactured at the beginning of the 1960. Collateral: They are accompanied by a presentation jewelry box. It is pretty heavy and large, with a total weight of 104.2 Grams and a measurements of 95 mm by 89 mm (3.75 by 3.5 Inches). Stamped, with the maker's mark, the hallmark for the assay of the 18kt gold and signed, "INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA 18KT". Note: The Maltese cross, is a cross symbol, consisting of four "V" or arrowhead shaped concave quadrilaterals converging at a central vertex at right angles, two tips pointing outward symmetrically.
