Rare 1850s English Victorian Almandine Swags Garnet Gold Necklace
The most delicious berry red dream! The dominant style of the Georgian era and well carry-on into Victorian times bringing us to 1850s, featuring super sexy articulated, breathtaking English-made antique nine carat gold Almandine Swags Garnet Necklace! This exquisite garnet necklace, with its enchanting allure, perfectly captures the elegance and sophistication of the Victorian era. It would have undoubtedly shimmered beautifully amidst the romance and grandeur of a ballroom, where silk gowns rustled and candlelight danced.
This ravishing swag necklace is over 175 years old, yet has retained every inch of her splendor!
This elegant jewel measures 15.75" inches long ( feels a bit longer ).
The necklace features gracefully arranged in a cascading triple swag style details that seems to dance with every movement with each holding a single hanging garnet.. Each garnet has been foiled to perfection, with every single one exuding a mouthwatering, the most delicious cherry red hue. The design features 61 old cut garnets measuring in average between 5mm to 6mm, it's hard to estimate the carat weight but definitely over 33 carats, Weighing a substantial 15.63 grams, this necklace balances opulence with delicate grace, a perfect testament to the artistry of its time.
The all original chain finished with spring catch and safety chain.
Condition: The age shows with only a minor pinch to the gold on the back that is barely detectable without strain to the eye. Excellent antique condition, thanks for a lower gold carat which has the advantage of being extremely sturdy, holding its shape and any precious stones more securely than higher carat weight, helping them to survive to today's times in incredible great condition. Although 9 carat gold is less expensive than the higher carats it has been used to create some truly wonderful pieces, including a great amount of fine antique and vintage jewelry.
